Skullmania

I've been keeping up with the news about Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It's shaping up to be a good one and I can't wait to play it again. I've kind of taken a hiatus from it, but damn I'm getting that urge to give Blizzard money again, curse them!

In other matters, I call the above drawing the Deathdwarf! I really like the cartoony/Penny Arcadey feel of the character but I think I have to work more on the design. I showed Zia, a friend of mine, and she thought the skull motif was too much. I'm inclined to agree with her. In any case, the new comic I'm working on is coming along.

I discovered this website while I was looking for watercoloring techniques in Photoshop. Danidraws.com has been such a great resource with it's many tutorials and helpful information that I think every beginner and intermediate digital artist can benefit from visiting her website.

A Comic About Druids

I just got done with a new WoW comic. Took me the better part of a day, but I'm definitely churning them out faster. I hope they don't dismiss this comic because there is a picture of a naked Tauren in it. It's not like you can see anything, his fat folds conceal everything. I hope you guys like it.

I Shall Call Him Bubbles

I just submitted this month's entry to WoW comic contest. There's still a few things that bug me about it, but it's as good as it's gonna get. The gnome's hair and the water elemental I'm satisfied with so overall I think it's done well. Time to get to work on the next one.

A Delicacy

I just finished a submitted a new comic to the new round of the WoW comic contest, I'm not holding back any punches this time. They will feel the full fury of my comic making skills! This time, I'm using techniques from Kazu Kibuishi, the creator of such great comics as Copper and Daisy Kutter. I don't yet share his wonderful sense of color design, but I'll just have to keep on trucking. Again, this time I use the knowledge of my previous comics to improve upon my latest one. Tell me if you notice a difference in quality.

Oh shit... I just notice some supertypos, even spelled my own name wrong! ARGH! This is what I get for staying up to do it. I'll fix it on my end, but it's too late to fix the version I already sent them, have to grin and bear it... sigh. The one on top as the fixes, the one on the bottom has the horrible typos.

In Other News

I won the comic contest! Yay, joy is me. Damn now I can't submit more comics to them. It was fun while it lasted, I regret not being more productive and making a crap load of comics and not posting here as much as I would like. I still have a few ideas for comics on my drafting board, maybe I'll finish them up.

Third Time's a Charm

Ding ding ding I just submitted the third wow comic I did. As usual I will be posting it here early and here it is:I like the concept and I'm using some of the things I learned from the other comics, that really helped speed up the process and make it better than the other ones. The colors are vibrant and the forms are solid. The only problem I have with it is the hand in panel 2, it is kind of awkward and I didn't catch it during the refinement phase. Overall. I'm very happy with it and hopefully I'll finally win!

Samuel

This is the first sketch that I liked of Sam, the main character of the webcomic I'm developing. I've been inspired by many sources, including but not limited to Flo and D!o.

I'm suffering from insomina again, it comes and goes. At least I'm feeling better about my position in the grand scheme of things. This comic will be good for me. I have a few storylines jotted down in my pad. I'm gonna first create the setting and most of the charaters, then I'll make a buffer of comics that way I can take a break from making them if I want without relying on guess comics (not that I have any friends in the comic making biz to ask to make a comic).

A Promise Delivered

I promised something special this month in October and here it is! My submission for November for the WoW comic contest. Everyone tell me that you think of it :D

I tried a different style than October's submission. If you haven't seen that one it's right here. I hope this one pans out better.

Comic Contest

Today, I grace you with the kickassness of the comic I've been working on for the World of Warcraft comic contest. It's already been submitted and I hope for the best. Although I have plan B if this one should fail, I think this comic is the better one. I came up with the idea two days ago and work for a full day on it. Very rarely do I do things in full color, use screenshots, and top it off with complete shading (highlight, shadow, and coreshadow), but this was a special occasion. It turned out very nice, one of the better exmple of my illustration muscle flexing. Beefcake!

It has been bit since my last post, but I have a perfectly good excuse. I've been a bit under the weather lately. Today, I suffered through a stomache that left me fatigued, that being a recurring theme these past few days. I still have my online class to catch up on.

Line quality is my point of discussion today. Line quality is key in conveying depth, level of detail, and even lighting in a drawing. A vaired line quality can do much for a drawing and how effectively you can pull the elements from the page. In the shadow, lines are thicker and in the light they are thinner. Also, as I've discussed before things that are farther and more detailed deserve a thinner line.
